Jimmy Fallon has come along way since his first SNL Christmas hit “I wish it was Christmas today”…and this Mariah Carey song has been a staple of Much Music’s Christmas video rotation for as long as I can remember watching much music at Christmas.

This is a really fun rendition of “All I want for Christmas is You”, built on a wonderful cacophony of children’s musical instruments and bad sweaters. Questlove (drummer for the roots) doesn’t even look bored getting stuck playing the clapper. Maybe he’s just pleased to be sitting next to Mariah…Whatever it is, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots are having a great time and it rubs off on us.

Now Jimmy Fallon has done “classroom instrument” version of other pop songs….but there’s a magic to this one that beats the fast fade novelty of the rest. The genius in this is the cheap decorations, the Christmas sweaters, the singing kids and the playful imperfection of it. It reminds us of singing out of tune carols with neighbors and drinking too much egg nog with the fam as you count down the minutes till bed time. That’s what Christmas is all about, its a bit of a mess but we put our whole heart into it year after year. I’ll be watching this one again and again this year. Maybe next.

Now I’ve got some neighbors that can sing…but boy Mariah does put them all to shame. Thanks Jimmy.

The verdict is still out on how much a Facebook page helps your business, or how effective Facebook ads are, there is no denying that Facebook is big. Really big. Mark Zuckerberg posted a little not today saying “there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.”
